Toronto: Buddies With Kids And Killer Joe Deals Getting Closer

EXCLUSIVE: The offer logjam here's near clearing. Word is rampant that Lionsgate is tying lower privileges towards the Jennifer Westfeldt-directed comedy Buddies With Kids, having a deal worth up to $two million for U.S. and five other areas. The ensemble comedy stars Westfeldt, Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig and Adam Scott as buddies whose life is changed once they start families. Cinetic and Red-colored Granite can sell. In another deal materializing, Mickey Liddell will acquire privileges towards the William Friedkin-directed Killer Joe, the drama that made its Toronto debut Sunday. It's the first purchase of the festival for Liddell, whose this past year purchases incorporated the Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu-directed Biutiful. In Killer Joe, Emile Hirsch plays a drug dealer whose cash will get stolen by his mother and needs to develop $6000 or he’s dead. He employs Killer Joe (Matthew McConaughey) when he discovers mother’s life insurance coverage policy may be worth $50,000. Joe usually demands his money in advance but is flexible once the drug dealer offers his sister as sexual collateral. CAA and Current can sell the film. The particulars continue to be ironed out. More in the future.
