The NFL's current deals with the broadcasters were to expire in 2013. PHOTOS: 26 of Hollywood's Most Popular Athletes-Turned-Actors "These agreements underscore the NFL's unique commitment to broadcast television that no other sport has," commissioner Roger Goodell said. "The agreements would not have been possible without our new 10-year labor agreement. and the players deserve great credit. Long-term labor peace is allowing the NFL to continue to grow, and the biggest beneficiaries are the players and fans." Under the agreement, the NFL will be able to expand its package of games on Thursday night on the NFL Network beginning next year. The league had said it wanted to expand on Thursdays to cover games in the first half of the season, but speculation was the package would go out for bid. For now at least, those games will air on the league's NFL Network, which already had Thursday night games in the second half of the season. PHOTOS: 10 Broadcast and Cable TV Shows Most Watched by Men NBC will continue to air the Thursday night season kickoff game and carry the primetime game on Thanksgiving (which had been on the NFL Network) starting in 2012. It will also exchange one of its current wild-card postseason games for a divisional playoff game and get the rights to launch a Sunday morning pregame show on NBC Sports Network (the future name of sister cable network Versus). The contract continues flexible scheduling, meaning the networks will be able to move games around to get the most exciting matchups on TV. However, beginning in 2014, the contract will allow games to be moved between CBS and Fox so that important matchups can be seen by a wider audience. According to the NFL, 23 of the 25 most-watched shows on TV this fall were NFL games, often drawing twice the viewership of other primetime shows. Fox will continue to carry National Football Conference games on Sundays as it has since it acquired rights in 1994. NBC continues Sunday Night Football, which it began in 2006. And the league also receives $1 billion a year from DirecTV for the Sunday Ticket satellite package. CBS, Fox and NBC will continue to rotate coverage of the Super Bowl, but NBC gets three title games in the new contract: the 2015 game in Glendale, Ariz. and the games in 2018 and 2021. CBS will broadcast the Super Bowl in 2016, 2019 and 2022, and Fox has it in 2017, 2020 and 2023. The Adopted (Ces Adoptes)

A Studiocanal release and presentation from the Movemovie production, in colaboration with TF1 Films Push., Canal Plus, Cinecinema, Arte. (Worldwide sales: Studiocanal, Paris.) Produced by Bruno Levy. Directed by Melanie Laurent. Script, Laurent, Morgan Perez, Chris Deslandes. With: Melanie Laurent, Marie Denarnaud, Denis Menochet, Clementine Celarie, Audrey Lamy, Theodore Maquet-Foucher, Morgan Perez, Nicolas Medad.A rock-solid female triumvirate made up of in france they mother and her two kids expects to interrupt apart when one of the siblings and siblings starts rapport with (gasp!) a man in "The Adopted." Directorial debut of Gallic thesp Melanie Laurent ("Inglourious Basterds") plays as being a schematic American indie, piling round the quirkiness, plot twists and musical cues, with practically the only real versions being it's occur Lyon too as with French. Glossy almost to the level of requiring shades to check out it, the pic found a market femme aud in your town and could attract the same demographic offshore. Pretty music artist Lisa (Laurent) observes inside an opening voice-over that, becoming an adult, she seriously considered "a champion of other nutritional foods,In . and her youthful boy, Leo (Theodore Maquet-Foucher), seriously considered Zorro when he was elevated, but that "nobody increased being whatever they imagined being. In . Early scene already signals Laurent's penchant for mixing cute idiosyncrasies getting a faux rough-edged sentimentality, the kind which will come padded in elegant montage sequences and soothing pop-rock, in manners like the work of Miranda This summer time and Mike Mills (possibly not coincidentally, Laurent co-starred in Mills' recent "Beginners"). Pic proper is split up into three parts, while using first dedicated to Lisa's adopted sister, Marie (Marie Denarnaud). Her character is intelligent, cultured and in touch with her feelings, as deduced within the particulars that her favorite film is "Charade" and he or she works inside an Anglophile book store. Marie, Lisa in addition to their slightly alcoholic mother (Clementine Celarie) form a triangular zone of girl energy where the pint-sized Leo might be the only real male tolerated (Leo's father is conspicuous by his absence). Things change each time a huggable toy, Alex (Denis Menochet), walks to the store where Marie works and so they fall crazily for each other after she's offered him an amount of Carver short tales. Lisa finds that it is hard to sit down inside a global where she must deal with others for Marie's attention, in addition to their co-dependent sisterly rapport drops in order to a dramatic event, some 30 minutes in, that indelibly alters what had once made an appearance an indestructible relationship. Laurent, who co-written the script with Morgan Perez and Chris Deslandes, might be the main focus in the partner-hour, minimal interesting in the three. However, it'll allow spindly thesp Audrey Lamy to develop her supporting turn since the book store owner whose dial is certainly on indignant, one of the film's handful of reasons for character-based (rather than simply cutesy) humor. The pic's last segment is near the p.o.v. in the male thief, Alex, which has grown closer to his initial foe, Lisa. Their developing fondness for each other convinces but never surprises the very best can be a fantastically handled scene of raw feelings in which the grownups discuss important matters within the dining room table because the camera is on the floor inside the adjacent room, alongside Leo while he plays along with his toys. Awesome-schmaltzy onscreen feelings are engrossed in a shiny tech package Arnaud Potier's lensing, having its milky lighting and artful usage of darkness and shallow focus, perfectly complements Stanislas Reydellet's pastel-centered production design. Appear design is similarly missing of spontaneity. Several random-feeling crosscuts suggest some last-minute edits.Camera (color), Arnaud Potier editor, Guerric Catala music, Jonathan Moral production designer, Stanislas Reydellet costume designer, Maira Ramedhan Levi appear (Dolby Digital), Cyril Moisson casting, Coralie Subert. Keck's Exclusives: Robin's Heartache: Why How I Met Your Mother Did It

Cobie Smulders and Kal Penn Spoiler alert: This story reveals major details from this week's episode of How I Met Your Mother. Within the span of two episodes of the CBS comedy, Robin (Cobie Smulders) learned she was pregnant, only to be hit with the double whammy last night's episode she was in fact not pregnant - and could not have children. That's some pretty heavy territory for the often-outrageous sitcom. Why did the show put Robin through such a wide range of emotions? It's all part of a master plan, says executive producer Carter Bays, explaining the decision was made this past summer to make Robin infertile. "This was an important moment we wanted to hit for the series arc," Carter tells me. "We've always said that Robin doesn't have kids, but thought it would be interesting to see how a door being closed to her would effect her. Even if she always thought she never wanted kids, it's still tough to hear. And frankly, it's something we're nervous about. It's one thing dealing with Marshall's father dying, but in many ways this is a much more sensitive issue. And we hope we do it justice." Carter believes this turn of events is the beginning of a change for the character. "We're setting off an arc to explore more of Robin's professional life," he says. "We're also looking to get into some of her issues - like the inability to open up and share with people. This will drive the second half of the season and come to effect her relationship with Kevin and other members of the group." Subscribe to TV Guide Magazine now!

'Star Trek 2' Gets May 2013 Release Date, Will Be In 3D?

Citizens of Earth, prepare yourself: "Star Trek 2" has an official release date. The upcoming sequel to the 2009 hit will land in theaters on May 17, 2013, according to Deadline. Paramount bumped Roland Emmerich's delayed film "Singularity" back to November 2013, paving the way for "Trek 2" to boldly go towards its new May release date. Even more exciting is the news that J.J. Abrams and team are planning on shooting the flick in 3D, though there's no confirmation of that at the moment. With filming set to begin on January 15, it sounds like the film is well on its way to finally being completed. Little is known about the upcoming, unofficially titled sequel. Reports say the flick will feature Klingons, but won't include Khan contrary to hopeful rumors. That leaves a big question mark in the air for who Benicio Del Toro will portray as the series' new villain. When MTV News caught up with Abrams recently, he confirmed his interest in having Del Toro join the movie. The director said "The Wolfman" star could do "anything" within the "Star Trek" franchise. "We're just in negotiations, we're in discussions," he said. "It's not even negotiations -- just in discussion. But I would love to work with him. I've wanted to work with him for years, and this felt like a good opportunity." Are you glad "Star Trek 2" is finally being made? Tell us in the comments section below or on Twitter!

Roman's Circuit (El circuito de Roman)

An Escala Humana/Forastero presentation in co-production with Domenica Films/La Ventura/Kine-Imagenes. (International sales: Shoreline Entertainment, Los Angeles.) Produced by Jorge Lopez Vidales, Gregorio Gonzalez, Sebastian Brahm. Co-producer, Pepe Salvia, Laura Mara Tablon. Directed, written by Sebastian Brahm. With: Cristian Carvajal, Paola Giannini, Alexis Moreno, Julia Martinez Rubio, Pablo Krogh, Camilo Carmona, Shlomit Baytelman. The rare feature to treat science seriously and respectfully, Sebastian Brahm's "Roman's Circuit" fascinates with its mix of actual and invented ideas on memory and neuroscience, but falls short as a character study of a once-promising neuropsychologist in career decline. Protag's attempts to publish for the first time in a while intersect with academic warfare, a past romance and a promising student, but the result feels more like an outline than a finished film. Fest and market response will be respectful but muted. Roberto Roman (Cristian Carvajal) made a name for himself in his late 20s with groundbreaking research on memory. Initially unexplained events prompted him to jump off the academic fast track, but he's returned to the psychology department at Chile's State U. in Santiago at the invitation of mendacious department head Osvaldo (Pablo Krogh). Roberto is to have relatively free rein in a lab that's set to be upgraded, but he must work under former peer Jose Luis (Alexis Moreno); he doesn't know it, but despite these less-than-ideal conditions, he's fortunate to have brilliant grad student Javier (Camilo Carmona), Roberto's self-declared "biggest fan," as his research assistant. Roberto is staying with his mom, Carmen (Shlomit Baytelman), away from Argentine-born wife Ines (Argentine thesp Julia Martinez Rubio, "Todos Mienten," "Castro"), who makes a surprise visit. This seems to open up a fissure, however, as Osvaldo begins to make moves on Carmen, much to Ines' amusement, and Roberto crosses paths with Jose Luis' wife, Silvia (Paola Giannini), who was Roberto's g.f. a decade ago. This past relationship and a chain of scenes with Ines initiate a flow of memories for Roberto that begin to alter the film's rhythm and even its style at the midpoint. Brahm and his skilled editor, Andres Tambornino, splice and fracture scenes, occasionally producing surprising moments of recognition. But in this approach, which strongly recalls Alain Resnais' more complex cinematic explorations of memory in "Last Year at Marienbad" and "Muriel," Brahm aims but never realizes those "Eureka!" moments that are part of Javier and Roberto's research, and the layered flashbacks fail to draw the viewer into Roberto's character, perhaps because Carvajal's dull, cryptic performance makes him a near-blank. Only Giannini and Baytelman suggest backstories, their performances themselves an artful form of memory work, and Krogh does a solid variation on his usual role as the heavy. Certain dense dialogue passages regarding brain and memory science, replete with technical jargon, are clearly not meant to be comprehended, even on a second viewing. Much like techno-speak in war, sci-fi and thriller pics, the words lend an air of authenticity more important than viewer understanding. Production package is elegant and sleek, with details that suggest a grimy city surrounding the clean lab environments. The 35mm print viewed in Toronto was subpar; upcoming screenings are promised to be pristine.Camera (color, widescreen, HD-to-35mm), Benjamin Echazarreta; editor, Andres Tambornino; music, Miranda & Tobar; production designer, Paola Saavedra; costume designer, Eliza Hormazadal; sound (Dolby Digital), Pablo Gamberg; sound designer, Adriano Salgado; re-recording mixer, Roberto Migone; associate producers, Luis Brahm, Cristobal Brahm; assistant director, Waldo Salgado; casting, Maria Jose San Martin. Jonah Hill Ponders Hollywood's Finest Onscreen Stoners

Additionally to worrying over casting bulletins, set photos and plot particulars, we cinephiles love simply a traditional fashioned debate within the best performances in film background and the stars who shipped them. This "Who Performed It Best?" game has endless options for inciting fun-filled arguments with buddies, and it is much more fun available to get the stars under consideration involved. When MTV News swept up with Jonah Hill lately to deal with the award buzz surrounding his role in "Moneyball," we made the decision to toss in an issue concerning the best onscreen stoners since, you realize, he and the "Moneyball" co-star Kaira Pitt have both performed them. As well as the truth that a couple of from the movies Hill makes involve and/or center around pot people who smoke. What's funny is [James] Franco performed a stoner in "Pineapple Express" and that i thought his was amazing. Kaira in "True Romance" is fairly incredible, but Franco in 'Pineapple Express' I believe is my personal favorite one." After considering it for any minute more, Hill transformed his mind and made the decision to election in support of a classic school classic and move Sean Penn's beloved character Shaun Spicoli from "Fast Occasions At Ridgemont High" up from the list. The jury can always be on whether Tom Cruise can make an sufficient Jack Reacher over night, but author/director Christopher McQuarrie certainly appears devoted to supplying him with an above average supporting cast. One Shot, modified from Lee Child's novel finds former military type-switched-drifter/vigilante hard situation Reacher digging in to the thorny situation of the sniper charged with killing five innocent people. Los Angeles Photographers on What Makes an Effective Headshot

The old adage about a picture being worth a thousand words is especially true when it comes to actors' headshots. This one photo is supposed to convey your personality, your age range, your ability to work well with others, and dozens of other elements that will influence a casting director's decision to bring you in for an audition. How do you and your photographer capture all that information in a single image? What combination of lighting, wardrobe, and spontaneity will produce the best result? To get the answers to these vital questions, we asked photographers in Los Angeles and NY to send us two outstanding examples of their workone of a man and one of a womanalong with a brief explanation of why they think these particular pictures are successful in "selling" their subjects. Their responses, along with the photos, are on the following pages. (Photos by Brad Buckman) Brad Buckman Along with a strong intensity in his dramatic pictures, Terry Savage has a contagious smile in this commercial shot. The close crop features an amazing energy that stands out online and compels a casting director to get him in the room. As a photographer, I do my best to encourage a full range of expression and capture what is unique and authentic about the actor. Technically, I'm able to nail the focus on the eyes even as an actor moves and laughs. I always shoot hand-held, giving actors more freedom to play and be themselves. As with all actors, my goal was to capture Dijanne Cornell's uniqueness during her session. In this picture, her eyes grab your attention, then you see the rest of her lovely face. The slight profile allows us to feature the color and style of her hair, and the slight angle of the image gives a bit more visual interest. We see just a hint of the environment, enough to add to the picture without distraction. (Photos by Sara Corwin) Sara Corwin I think a headshot is great when the actor is extremely relaxed and open and his or her eyes are truly communicating an emotion to the camera. I try to create a safe and relaxed environment so that actors can show me the many different facets of their personality. I direct with various suggestions to bring out the actor's emotional essence, as well as physical direction so everything flows together. Even if shooting an edgy look, I believe the actor should still look accessible. Each actor is unique, and to quote Oscar Wilde, "Be yourself; everyone else is already taken." (Photos by Greg Crowder) Greg Crowder Colleen Foy is the first shot. The first thing you want a picture to say is "approachable." I know instantly I can cast her as an intern, student, best friend. She's not a glamorous supermodel but a very attractive, confident, approachable actor. You want your picture to sell you as you. The colors make her pop. She is engaged completely with the camera and tells the casting director, "You want to work with me."Ric Lebron is the second shot. The colors make Ric stand out. He's not trying too hard to sell you anything. He has a very kind, warm, engaging smile. Again, the casting director wants to work with this person. Casting directors know instantly that they will like this person and that their clients will too.The headshot is about "the sell": Commercially, it's selling the product. Theatrically, it's selling you. It's been said that a picture is worth a thousand words. In the acting world, it's more like an encyclopedia and needs to say it in one second. Give the casting director a headshot that instantly says, "This is me; bring me in." (Photos by Jeff E Photo) Jeff Ellingson (Jeff E Photo) This photo that I did with Michael Urie is more of a publicity shot, but it is my favorite. He was doing "Ugly Betty" at the time and needed some photos for magazine articles about him. Michael is a great guy, with an incredible, quirky, and fun personality. The rolling crate was sitting nearby and I asked him to grab it, and he instantly crawled inside of it. This is a great example of a photographer and an actor willing to play together and think outside the box. Or in this case, inside the box.Jesse Meriwether is best known as the girl in the Orbit gum "Lint Licker" commercial. I mention that so you think of how much of a character she is. When I do headshots, I really want to capture the person's natural quirkiness without being too over-the-top or fake about it. To do that, we just talk, instead of posing or putting on a silly face. Sometimes I have the actor take on a character so that these quirky looks come out organically. I admit, if I could retake this photo, I wouldn't crop so tight, but, oh wellit still works! (Photos by Cathryn Farnsworth) Cathryn Farnsworth The style of headshots has evolved greatly over the years. Right now, a lot of pre-casting is done online. Casting directors are looking at 20 headshot thumbnails on a computer screen, so it goes without saying that the image of the actor needs to stand out. In my opinion, the most important aspect of a headshot is that it properly represent the actor. I don't just mean aesthetically. I mean that the person's essence really comes through the headshot. These two photos in particular have had great results for the actors. The background is clean, the actor pops off the page, and they are authentic and real.I really believe that getting headshots can beand should bea truly enjoyable experience. Being comfortable with the photographer is a key element. The safer you feel, the easier it is to express yourself in a genuine way. Having a shoot with a photographer who directs you, guides you, and sees you for who you really are is paramount. I also highly recommend getting makeup and hair done by an artist. It's not about changing you; it's about being camera-ready and truly taken care of for your photo shoot. (Photos by Felle Photography) Felle Photography The female shot is a great headshot for sitcoms and commercials because of her real smile, the thought and openness behind her eyes, and the bright, stylish blouse she's wearing. She will stand out in a thumbnail submission because of all of these factors. The male shot is great because of his genuine smile combined with a hip style that just screams, "Put me on TV!" Both of these shots, and all of the ones on my website, are geared to specific casting. (Photos by Blake Gardner) Blake Gardner I believe these are good examples of what an actor's headshot should be, because the central focus of the photos is the subject instead of a busy background or something gimmicky, like when people wear scrubs or have a stethoscope around their neck. Man, I hate that. Headshots should look exactly like what the actor will look like when he or she walks into a casting session. Actors should have a truthful, honest expression in their photos. I love it when you can almost hear what their voice sounds like just by the expression on their face. (Photos by David Muller) David Muller I try to capture people so that the light is beautifying but still maintaining their actual look and not over-glamming them. My images have a contemporary edge, so that the headshots have a style without the shots speaking more about the photographer than the actor. (Photos by Vanie Poyey) Vanie Poyey Your headshot should not simply be a pretty picturea trap most novice actors fall into. Instead, your headshots need to market you specifically for the type you're auditioning for. Your type, or what I call "marketing look," is based on your age range. For example, if your age range is 18 to 23, your marketing looks may include "all-American guy next door," or possibly "edgy hipster" or "edgy urban," etc.The two photos I chosewhile full of personality, something I aim to draw from actors by directing themalso display very specific marketing looks. Sarah is clearly "the girl next door," and Eduardo is clearly "the businessman." When the casting community isn't familiar with your work, a headshot that closely resembles the type in the breakdown gives them reason to believe you can act the part and to call you in. (Photos by Michael Sanville) Michael Sanville Headshots are all about what is going on inside the person and allowing that to come out through the eyes.In the male image, it's clear that he is focused, relaxed, and has something going on in his mind. And when that happens, it shows in your eyes and the viewer is irresistibly drawn in.The female image shows a great deal of personality and life. Once again, it's all about drawing the viewer in. You have one split second to catch their attention. Where do you want the focus? The face and the eyes! (Photos by Paul Smith) Paul Smith It's up to the actors to come prepared with their internal script, which will make them present. It's up to me to control lighting, angles, and the overall technicalities of a shoot. More importantly, I have to be present to capture the moments that happen when actors are being their true selves, their essence. What makes these particular shots good is that they are just honest moments in front of the camera. No posing. No overthinking. Chord is a really laid-back kind of a guy who allows himself to be in the moment, and that comes with preparation. Same with Kelly: She knows her market, did her homework, and let the rest go. Prepare, prepare, prepare. That's all there is to it. It ain't rocket science.

Glam Slam: Mostly Missed Out On Missoni

By Ryan PattersonLOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Forget going, going, gone. How about gone from the get go! The Missoni for Target collection debuted today and went like that. My husband Richard, God Bless him, stayed up all night trying to get online to order the highly coveted collection for me. When it finally came up online around 3:30 am pst. we started to order and already things were sold out. Then the site crashed. We got nada. The site was down for hours and then every time I tried to order, it would crash again. On the way to work my husband stopped by the store. Already everything was gone. He found a couple of things for our daughter, but not much luck. I didnt have much luck either going to a more suburban Target. There were two pairs of size 11 shoes left, no womens clothes at all, and the homewares section was completely bare. I was able to get a couple of things for our daughter, but in general, the store was wiped out. There were very aggressive women with carts FULL of stuff, so it was pretty competitive to get anything. People were practically begging them to share since they were pretty much buying anything they could fit in their baskets. Big bummer! My co-worker Ashley said her mom reported that Orange County stores were sold out too. When my husband looked online this morning, there were already more than 2500 items on ebay. Luckily, my friend Angella in Miami was able to buy quite a few things at a store there this morning. She was nice enough to offer the things she isnt going to keep, so at least I will get a couple of things! Oh the price one has to pay to look fashionable these dayseven if it is Target prices! Brett Ratner Apologizes For Tower Heist Joke

After former Heroes co-star Greg Grunberg, who has an epileptic son, tweeted his outrage over a joke in the recent Tower Heist trailer referring to Ben Stiller as “little seizure boy,” director Brett Ratner issued an apology and has reportedly asked Universal to alter the film’s marketing. Grunberg tweeted his thanks and lifted “my personal boycott of ur hilarious film.” No truth to the rumor Grunberg attempted to leverage his grudge in pursuit of Oscar-hosting duties, though presenting is probably not out of the question. 'Sin City 2' Enlists Oscar-Winning Writer William Monahan for Script Work (Exclusive)

Brad Barket/Getty Images Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller are bringing in some Oscar-winning firepower to help shape the script for Sin City 2, the sequel to their 2005 hit graphic novel adaptation. William Monahan, who won the Oscar for best adapted screenplay for 2006's The Departed, has been hired to work on the script, according to sources, supplementing a draft completed recently by Miller. STORY: Robert Rodriguez on 3D, the 'Sin City' Sequel and 'Red Sonja' Momentum has been building lately behind the long-in-development sequel to Sin City, which grossed a healthy $100 million worldwide in 2005. Rodriguez, who co-directed the original with Miller (who scripted and authored the source material), said at Comic-Con in July that financing for the sequel had been arranged and shooting would begin as soon as a script could be locked, possibly by the end of this year. It's not clear which actors would return from the original, though rumors on fan websites have suggested a storyline featuring the characters played by Mickey Rourke and Jessica Alba. Rodriguez indicated to THR during an interview at Comic-Con that actors playing characters that survived the first film are expected to return, and that because much of it is shot in pieces against green screen that scheduling shouldn't be too difficult. THR's Complete Comic-Con Coverage Monahan has been in high demand since taking home the Oscar. His active dossier includes the scripts for the hot Tom Cruise sci-fi project Oblivion, which is currently casting at Universal, as well as a slew of other projects. As THR first reported on Friday, Monahan also is reuniting with his Departed director Martin Scorsese for a remake of the 1974 drama The Gambler. Monahan is repped by WME and Anonymous Content. 'Harry Potter' Leavesden Studios Tickets Go On Sale This October

Mark October 13 on your calendars and then start saving your pennies, "Harry Potter" fans, because Warner Bros has announced that tickets to "Warner Bros. Studio Tour London The Making of Harry Potter" will go on sale that day. Stars Evanna Lynch and Warwick Davis made the announcement Tuesday at the Empire Big Screen Event in London. Though the tour still doesn't have an official opening date -- Warner has only given the very vague Spring 2012 period -- I'm placing my bets that pre-order tickets sell out within 24 hours. Above is a rendering of what the exterior of the studio will look like upon completion. It certainly looks a bit Disney-fied and not very similar to the Leavesden we know and love, but that is kind of the point. Tickets can be booked through this official site and will cost 28 for adults and 21 for children. That's about $46 and $35, respectively, and a lot cheaper than I was personally expecting. The tour is three hours long and involves walking around the studio's 150,000 square feet, including two soundstages. The Great Hall, Dumbledore's Office, Hagrid's hut and the Gryffindor common room are among the actual sets that will be showcased on the tour. There also is a Creatures Effects workshop that will show how special effects artists were able to turn characters like Aragog, Fawkes, Buckbeak and the "Chamber of Secrets" basilisk to life. Do you plan on buying tickets to the tour? Tell us in the comments section below or on Twitter!

George Lucas' Allowance, 'Star Wars,' Has 40 Hrs Of Additional Footage For Blu-Ray Version

Nobody finds a method to squeeze more spend of the film franchise than George Lucas has been doing with The Exorcist, and he's in internet marketing again. Here is a trailer for that discharge of the six films on Blu-ray. I caught the bug about the original trilogy which was far in front of it is time, however i found the prequel unexciting in comparison to films such as the Matrix, that was launched around the same time frame. Still, Lucas is serving up 40 hrs of extra supplies during these releases. But does anybody apart from the hardcore geek really care?

Whoa There, Silver: Disney Pulls Plug on Johnny Depp's The Lone Ranger

Big, bad news, Lone Ranger fans: According to Deadline, Disney has decided to halt production on Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger, which was to star Johnny Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer as the titular masked crusader. The pricey blockbuster was to begin filming this October, but too many other $200M+ projects set up at the studio may have led to the project’s demise. From Deadline’s Mike Fleming: “I’m told this all just happened, and Disney pulled the plug because the budget, which I’ve heard the filmmakers were trying to reduce from $250 million—I’ve heard from insider that they’d gotten down to $232 million, but whatever the number, it wasn’t close to the $200 million that Disney wanted to spend. This had to be an incredibly tough call for Disney’s Rich Ross and Sean Bailey, but they have several huge live action bets on the table already. John Carter, the Andrew Stanton-directed adaptation of John Carter of Mars with Friday Night Lights’ Taylor Kitsch in the lead role, has a budget that has ballooned to north of $300 million because of extensive re-shoots [a studio insider said the number is lower], and The Great and Powerful Oz, the Sam Raimi-directed James Franco-starrer has a budget is hovering at $200 million.” The news comes as even more of a surprise since Disney announced a December 2012 release date for The Lone Ranger only back in June. Also: The Lone Ranger was to reunite Pirates of the Caribbean colleagues Depp, Verbinski, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Guaranteed moneymaker, right? Maybe this frees up the trio to go back to developing Pirates 5, the inevitable next installment of their proven (but creatively tired) billion-dollar franchise. UPDATE: According to Variety, Disney is still trying to find a way to proceed with The Lone Ranger. “The pic is far from dead at the studio,” says the trade, citing anonymous sources “close to the production.” Hmm. Is this an effort to temper the cancellation report, or will Disney soon go on record to support this latest claim? Developing… Shocker! Disney Halts Johnny Depp’s ‘The Lone Ranger’ [Deadline]
